Even Sylvia Plath needed a stay at home wife (nanny) so she could work and have her own time and balance it all! I really enjoyed your piece, although it made me so sad, knowing how Sylvia's life ended. Being a mother *is* complex. It's brilliant and messy and exhausting and I love that she loved it, but as much as we love it, that love alone can't sustain many of us and I think it's good to talk about that.

Oof. Thankyou. I came of age reading her and now live about a hundred yards from the house where she ended her life. I think of her almost daily.
Today I am finding this almost too sad - as you say, never finding that balance and galloping to her death. Too close. Too sad
I love this so much. I share her sentiments—I love being a mommy and I just need an hour to think my own thoughts.
This is amazing. Thank you so much for writing about this, I need to read those letters!!
